St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School
SPEECH AND COMMUNICATION CLASSES – Students in Years 1-12
Speech and Communication classes prepare students for a communication-savvy world, teaching them to be creative and confident speakers.
Classes aim to empower students with effective communication skills and build their self-esteem through public speaking, eisteddfods, AMEB and Trinity College of London examinations, and other fun, imaginative activities. Small group sessions ensure each student is given the time and attention they need.
Group classes will be held at St Aidan’s on Monday, Thursday and Friday before and after school, during morning tea and lunchtime, and during school hours on a rotation system that ensures that students will not be disadvantaged with their schoolwork. Close communication with teachers from week to week allows us to set the most appropriate lesson times.
During School Hours
Cost per term: $250 + GST – based on an 8-week term (2-4 students per 30-minute class).
For 2023 course dates, go to our Course Dates page.
Throughout the year, private lessons will be available to book online (via the Fees tab). These are only available to students taking weekly group classes. A limited number of time slots will be made available for bookings on a first-in basis.
All students preparing for an exam are recommended to book in for a private lesson to thoroughly rehearse and polish their program before the exam date.
If Year 10 students doing their CVCA wish to have the exam in first semester, they can book in just for private lessons (6 recommended) instead of group classes.
We will soon start bringing to life the much-loved musical version of Roald Dahl’s story about a very clever little girl with magical powers. Top-tier tuition from industry professionals will make this production a one-of-a-kind learning experience for students, whether they are seasoned or new performers.
After nine rehearsals, the performance will take place on Sunday 28th May at the Talbot Theatre, West End. The show is open to students in Year 2 and above, and all who audition receive a part.
More details, including the full rehearsal schedule, are available on the Musical Theatre Performances page. Sign up now to take part in the show!
We will also be holding an Eisteddfod over the weekend of 22nd – 23rd July. This gives students the opportunity to perform a piece in front of an audience and receive constructive feedback from an adjudicator. Categories will include poetry, public speaking, character recital, and duologue.
Semester 2 Performance: We Will Rock You
Students in Year 5 and above will take on Queen’s greatest hits in this hilarious rock-musical, performing Sunday 8th October at the Princess Theatre, Woolloongabba.
