This is not a casual musical theatre class.
This is for students who live and breathe musical theatre.
The CIA Musical Theatre Performance Lab is a high-energy, performance-based weekly program created for passionate performers who want to train across singing, dancing and acting — all in one place.
Each term, students work intensively on:
- 2 scripted scenes
- 2 musical theatre numbers
Classes focus on choreography, vocal technique, harmonies, character development and performance confidence — with an emphasis on storytelling, ensemble work and stage presence. Students learn not just what to perform, but how to perform with clarity, commitment and confidence.
Training is led by an exciting mix of industry-trained musical theatre professionals, giving students exposure to different styles, techniques and performance expectations.
Across the year, this work builds toward a full end-of-year show, performed in the Talbot Theatre.
END-OF-YEAR PERFORMANCE
Across Terms 1–3, students will learn and develop:
- 6 scripted scenes
- 6 musical theatre numbers
These works will span a range of musical theatre styles and genres, allowing students to build versatility, ensemble awareness and strong performance technique.
In Term 4, the focus shifts to polish and refinement — strengthening vocals and harmonies, sharpening choreography, deepening character work and building performance confidence in preparation for the final showcase.
The program culminates in a fully staged end-of-year performance at:
Talbot Theatre, Thomas Dixon Centre
Sunday 1st November
Students gain invaluable experience performing in a professional theatre space, supported by lighting, sound and stagecraft.
More than a class – this is a year-long performance journey.
