St Aidan’s Anglican Girls’ School

Students in Years 1-12

Speech and Communication classes prepare students for a communication-savvy world, teaching them to be creative and confident speakers.

Classes aim to empower students with effective communication skills and build their self-esteem through public speaking, eisteddfods, AMEB and Trinity College of London examinations, and other fun, imaginative activities. Small group sessions ensure each student is given the time and attention they need.

In 2020, group classes will be held at St Aidan’s on Mondays and Thursdays before and after school, during morning tea and lunch time, and during school hours on a rotation system that ensures that students will not be disadvantaged with their schoolwork. Close communication with teachers from week to week allows us to set the most appropriate lesson times.

Before School  Morning Tea  During School Hours  Lunch  After School

Cost per term: $270.00 (price includes GST) based on an 8 week term (2-4 students per 30-minute class).

Next year I will be offering one weekly time slot for private lessons: 4.30 – 5.15pm Thursday afternoon. You can book this slot if you would like to commit to a term (or more) of one-on-one classes, which are useful for those seeking to improve certain skills or for those wanting some more intensive exam preparation.

Throughout the year, more private lesson times will be offered online on the Private Lessons page (under Fees). However, these will only be available to students already attending weekly group classes, as an opportunity for extra preparation before their exam.

This year, CIA is excited to present Affluenza, a hilarious, musical murder-mystery!

In Sydney’s eastern suburbs, the rich and beautiful are being picked off by a serial killer known as “Robin Hood”. Three high society victims have met gruesome ends, and a special task force has been assembled to transport the rest of Sydney’s elite to an emergency bunker for protection. As the hours pass, tensions rise, egos flare, and there are signs that this safe house might not be so safe after all.

From bratty private schoolkids to property tycoons, from champagne-sipping socialites to designer hipsters, these silver spooners might have the dollars, but do they have the sense to survive?

We can’t wait to take you on another challenging and rewarding journey from script to stage at the Brisbane Powerhouse. As always, this is a wonderful opportunity for students to build confidence, develop their vocal and physical performance skills, and have fun bringing a character to life in front of an audience. Throughout the intensive rehearsal process, they will also receive specialist tuition from theatre professionals.

For our November 2019 show, we had great success rehearsing in two separate age groups, which then joined together in a single performance. This made the process more organised – the performers had more time and space to workshop their scenes, and the overall show was more polished as a result. This year we will use the same formula across four rehearsals, before a dress rehearsal and performances in the Visy Theatre on Sunday 31st May.

All cast members must attend every rehearsal, staying for the full rehearsal time.
