Brisbane Girls Grammar School

Students Years 7-12

Speech and Communication classes prepare students for a communication-savvy world, teaching them to be creative and confident speakers.

Classes aim to empower students with effective communication skills and build their self-esteem through public speaking, eisteddfods, AMEB and Trinity College of London examinations, and other fun, imaginative activities. Small group sessions ensure each student is given the time and attention they need.

In 2018, classes will be held at Brisbane Girls Grammar School on Mondays, before school and at lunch time, and on Fridays at lunch time.

Cost per term: $250.00 (price includes GST) based on an 8 week term.

If these times do not suit, girls can attend a class at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Monday or Friday afternoons, or at Clayfield College on Tuesday or Wednesdayafternoons. Please see the Brisbane Powerhouse and Clayfield College pages for more information.

Students in Years 7-12

The production is open to all age groups, from younger performers to teenage thespians wanting an extra challenge to hone their talents. (Students will be grouped according to age so they can work with peers). We want cast members who love to perform, are fully committed and willing to go the extra mile to put together a spectacular show in a limited time frame.

Participants get a taste of the real-life production process by attending an audition(11th March) and a script read-through (25th March). They then have five weeks to learn their parts. When they arrive for their first rehearsal at the Visy Theatre, Brisbane Powerhouse, on the evening of Friday 27th April, the countdown starts – in less than 48 hours’ time, the audience will be seated, lights will go up, and the show will begin!

With only 13 hours of rehearsal in total, we need expert tuition, so students will be guided through the process by theatre professionals with experience in producing, directing and performing on stages around Australia.

Cost: $150

The cast will be limited to 40 students, so make sure you secure a spot by signing up online for the 48-Hour Theatrical Extravaganza.

Enrolments can be completed online from the 28th February 2018
