SPEECH AND COMMUNICATION CLASSES – Students in Years 5-10

Speech and Communication classes prepare students for a communication-savvy world, teaching them to be creative and confident speakers.

Classes aim to empower students with effective communication skills and build their self-esteem through public speaking, eisteddfods, AMEB and Trinity College of London examinations, and other fun, imaginative activities. Small group sessions ensure each student is given the time and attention they need.

2024 CLASSES

Group classes will be held at Brisbane Grammar School on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. They are offered before school, at morning tea or lunchtime.

Students also have the option of taking classes during school hours on a rotation system that ensures they will not miss the same school lesson from week to week. This system has worked effectively for many years and is a great choice for boys with co-curricular activities in the mornings, lunch hours and after school.

If these times don’t suit, you may prefer a class at Clayfield College (Tuesday afternoon) or New Farm (Thursday afternoon). These are attended by students from a mix of different schools. See the other venue pages for more information.

PRIVATE LESSONS

All students preparing for an AMEB exam are recommended to book in for a private lesson to thoroughly rehearse and polish their program. A limited number of time slots will be added to the website from time to time. These can be booked online via the Fees tab on a first-in basis.

If you are interested in regular weekly private lessons, please email jules@communicationinaction.net to discuss availability.

FINAL EXAM INTENSIVE COURSE – Term 1 Only

Year 10 students preparing for their final exam have the option of an intensive course of five 1-hour private lessons (instead of weekly group classes). This is only offered for Term 1, and the exam must be taken in March or April.

When enrolling, you will be able to select five private lesson times and an exam date.

Cost: $660 – five 1-hour private lessons + all behind-the-scenes program preparation.
